If you have a second mortgage and have tried to subordinate* it and refinance your first mortgage, you may have run into issues. What can you do with a VA Loan? While a VA Loan can obviously help a person to purchase a home, that’s not all that it can do. Here are some examples of what it can be used for:
VA Loans->Just the facts:
MYTH: Veterans only have 1 chance to use their VA home loan benefits.
FACT: Veterans can use their benefit multiple times, there is no limit!
MYTH: VA loans can only be used to BUY a house.
FACT: VA loans can be used to refinance too--up to 100% of the home's value, in some cases
MYTH: VA loans are small & only ideal for starter homes.
FACT: VA loans are widely available up to $1,000,000.
MYTH: VA loans take too long to process & close.
FACT: VA loans can be closed in the same amount of time as as other loan types.
MYTH: It's too difficult to qualify for a government program.
FACT: VA underwriting guidelines are designed to help veterans!
MYTH: VA loans are too expensive with the Funding Fee.
FACT: A VA loan is often cheaper than FHA & Conventional loans.
MYTH: Veterans have to be discharged or retired to use their VA loan benefit.
FACT: Active service members get full access to the VA mortgage benefit too.
MYTH: Members of the Reserves or National Guard are not eligible.
FACT: Members of Reserves or National Guard ARE eligible after 6 years of honorable service.
MYTH: Veterans who are serving away from home or overseas can't get a loan.
FACT: Active military can obtain a VA loan if they will occupy within 1 year OR have a spouse who will occupy.
MYTH: Widows or Widowers of Veterans are not eligible for the VA loan benefit.
FACT: Widows of fallen veterans who died on active duty or as a result of a service-connected disability ARE eligible for the benefits of a VA loan!
